As part of our ongoing updates & enhancements, we have introduced a more flexible way for you to configure your utilization rate targets. Managers can now choose whether to set and view utilization rate targets as a percentage or by hour, making it easier to align utilization goals with how their teams measure and benchmark productive work.
Here’s what’s new:
Utilization Targets by Hour or Percentage
Available in CurrentWare 12.0.5 for On-Premises Deployments.
Experience a more flexible way to define utilization rate targets for your team, using either a percentage of the day or through productive hours as a unit of measure.
Users have the option to choose between two modes:
Percentage
Set targets as a percentage of expected working time, such as 70-80% of your team’s working day, leaving time for lunches, breaks, and regular dips in productivity.
Out of box, targets are set as a percentage of the day, so existing utilization configurations are unchanged, even after upgrading.
Hours
Set targets as productive hours, such as 6.5 – 7 hours per day.
When Hours is selected as the unit of measure, the optimal utilization range can be adjusted in 30-minute increments, from zero up to twice the expected working hours. For example, if the expected working hours are set to 6 hours, that becomes the new benchmark for expected utilization rate time.
Why it matters
Some teams may prefer to measure utilization rates in terms of hours over percentages as a portion of the day. With this release, a conversion from percentages to hours comes with the click of a button.
Instead of translating a target such as 75% utilization into hours, users can define an expectation such as 6 productive hours and use that figure directly when discussing performance and workload. The underlying utilization calculation remains unchanged, and this update only changes how targets are configured and displayed.
How it works
- Open the Utilization Dashboard.
- Select Configuration under the Optimal Range setting
- Choose Percentage or Hours as your preferred unit.
- Set the optimal Utilization Range using the slider.
Same Utilization Rate logic, presented in your preferred format.
