Why customers are moving to Cloud
What our Success and Support teams hear from customers, in their own words.
“One less server to manage. That signed me up.”
An IT lead Julia migrated, on the moment Cloud clicked for him.
Shared by Julia Czlapinski · 29:28
“I’ll throw it on my laptop, but I turn my laptop off all the time.”
A small business owner Derek worked with. Cloud removes the server entirely, so data keeps flowing.
Shared by Derek Brennan, Head of Success · 06:27
“We didn’t want to open a port, but with the cloud, there’s no need.”
Enterprise teams with remote users who skip the VPN point those clients straight at the Cloud tenant instead.

From the Live Q&A
Your Cloud questions, answered
-
Less operational work for your IT team: no server to maintain, upgrades handled for you, and new features delivered sooner, with monthly releases planned. It is also simpler for hybrid and remote teams, because clients connect to Cloud without a VPN or port forwarding. One customer summed it up as one less server to manage.
-
Spin up your Cloud tenant, then install the Cloud client on each machine, manually or with your usual deployment tool. It installs over the existing client without an uninstall, points to your tenant automatically, and starts sending data. A configuration migration tool can carry over your existing policies and groups.
-
A data migration tool is in development with no confirmed date, and there may be a cost depending on how much data you want stored. Many customers keep historical data on their on-premises server while all new data goes to Cloud, then retire the server once they no longer need that history.
-
Six months of data is available live in the web console by default. Data between six and twelve months old moves to cold storage, and you can request it at no additional cost. Longer live retention is available as an upgrade. CurrentWare Cloud is hosted on AWS.
-
Yes. Every client connects directly to your Cloud tenant over the internet, wherever the user is working, so firewalls and missed VPN connections no longer interrupt data collection.
-
Yes. There are no plans to retire on-premises. New features will usually reach Cloud first, because Cloud updates are managed centrally by the CurrentWare team.
-
Clients check in every 2 to 3 minutes, similar to on-premises, depending on internet connection speed.
-
Yes. Client geolocation works the same way in Cloud as on-premises, because it is captured from the machine itself.
-
Yes, once. Install the Cloud client on each existing machine. After that, client upgrades happen automatically as CurrentWare updates the Cloud service.
-
Cloud has a higher list price than on-premises. For existing customers, the Success team works out pricing case by case based on your current package and discounts.
