Will CurrentWare work if someone is not connected to our network?

CurrentWare is designed to be flexible and allow you to enforce policies on computers even when they are not connected to your network.

The client agent installed on each computer has the ability to restrict the device and enforce policies locally, so no matter which network the computer is connected to, CurrentWare will be able to control and monitor Internet browsing with BrowseControl and BrowseReporter and restrict devices with AccessPatrol.

Note: in order to update policies on client agents outside of your network, they must be able to communicate with the CurrentWare Server. Once they are reconnected, they will update any changed policies and upload any tracked data.

To keep your CurrentWare clients connected and communicating with the CurrentWare Server, you will need to configure port forwarding rules. For more information on this topic, please see our knowledge base article on port forwarding.
