Using SPorder to Troubleshoot BrowseControl Internet Restriction issue on Windows 7

Using SPorder to Troubleshoot BrowseControl Internet Restriction issue on Windows 7

Is BrowseControl not blocking any websites on your Client computers?

BrowseControl uses LSP to restrict Internet access.

To further troubleshoot your Internet restriction issue, please run a diagnostic tool called SPorder on your client computer.

When you run SPorder, you should see the following screen:

sporder-cwprovider

Your Windows Sockets Configuration must have the following condition for BrowseControl to restrict Internet access:

  • Three or more “CWprovider” entries located at the top of the list
  • A single “CWprovider” entry at the bottom of the list.

If your SPorder report is not the same as the above screenshot, the Internet on this computer will not be restricted.

To fix this issue, you will need to reset your Winsock:

  1. Go to Start Menu > type in CMD in the search bar> right click on it and select Run as Administrator)
  2. Type in Netsh Winsock Reset
  3. Restart the computer.
