How do I Backup and Restore my CurrentWare Firebird Database?

It is important to back up your CurrentWare Firebird database to ensure that you retain your historical information from CurrentWare’s solutions such as BrowseReporter and AccessPatrol. There are a few ways to back up the CurrentWare database.

1. Database Backup Scheduler

From your CurrentWare console, you can configure CurrentWare to backup the database periodically.

  1. Go to Tools > Database Backup Scheduler > Enable database backup scheduler.
  2. Select a path to store the database backup.
  3. Set the frequency and time of the backup.
  4. Select the Apply button at the bottom of the page.
  5. Your Database Backup Scheduler is now scheduled to automatically backup.
  1. Go to Tools > Database Backup Scheduler > Enable database backup scheduler.
  2. Select a path to store the database backup.
  3. Set the frequency and time of the backup.

2. Manual Backup

You can manually copy the live database file on the CurrentWare Server computer (Firebird Only).

  1. Go to the following path where the database is stored:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\CurrentWare\cwServer\
  2. Find the database file named CWNPFB.CWD and copy the file to a backup location of your choice.

3. Archive Database

Archiving the CurrentWare database will back up the live database and replace the live database with a new one. This optimizes the performance of CurrentWare by reading and writing on a fresh database.

  1. Launch the CurrentWare Server Manager.
  2. Type CWSM.exe on the start menu > Launch CWSM.exe.
  3. On the CurrentWare Server Manager Database > Archive and Restore > Select Archive.
