CurrentWare can monitor and manage remote workers without being deployed to the cloud. Click here to learn more about using CurrentWare with remote workers
CurrentWare Cloud vs On Premises
Using CurrentWare with a private cloud service provider is a lot like using CurrentWare on premises. The key difference is that instead of using your own data center (servers, computers, etc) for the CurrentWare Console and Server, you use a data center provided by your cloud service provider.

---|---|---|
Console/Server Location | On a virtual machine that is provided by the cloud service provider. | On your own network to manage, store, and maintain. |
Costs | Varies by cloud service provider. Fees are typically based on “pay as you go “ data usage. | No additional costs outside of standard networking expenses and computers |
Uptime | Uptime for third-party cloud service providers is typically >90%. Exact uptime varies depending on the provider and any associated service-level agreements (SLA). | Uptime is determined by your company. Power outages, disasters, and other events will affect uptime. If connection is lost, all data and policies will be cached locally on the employee’s computer until a connection can be reestablished. |
Remote Workers | Remote workers are monitored and managed by connecting to the cloud-hosted virtual machine. | Remote workers are monitored and managed using a remote-compatible deployment. |
Administration | Policies can be updated remotely from the cloud-hosted virtual machine. | An in-person or remote access connection to the CurrentWare Console is required. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any limits to the free trial?
The free trial is fully functional. You can deploy it on up to 10 computers for 14 days. If you need more time or more computers to properly evaluate CurrentWare in your organization, reach out to our sales team.
Does CurrentWare support Citrix?
Yes. You can install the CurrentWare Clients on any Citrix Workspace or virtual machine running Windows.
CurrentWare has been tested to be compatible with the following virtual machines: VMware, Parallels, VirtualBox, Oracle VM, Virtual-PC, and Hyper-V.
For more information please refer to our system requirements.
Does the CurrentWare Agent continue monitoring employees and enforcing policies without an internet connection?
Yes. The client agent installed on the employee’s computer has the ability to restrict and monitor the device even if it does not have a connection with the CurrentWare Server.
The client agent stores and enforces the policies locally on the device. CurrentWare’s last known policies will continue to be enforced even if the computer loses internet connection or connects to a different network.
Note: If you wish to update policies on client agents outside of the network they will need to be able to communicate with the CurrentWare Server. Once a connection is reestablished you will receive your employee’s computer usage data and any CurrentWare policy updates will take effect.
Is there a managed cloud version of CurrentWare?
Coming soon. We’ve had many requests from our existing and prospective customers to develop a cloud-based version of CurrentWare. We have a projected release of CurrentWare Cloud in the year 2022.
Can CurrentWare monitor & manage remote workers without a cloud deployment?
Yes. CurrentWare provides a variety of deployment and management options that are compatible with remote workers. This allows you to monitor employees who work from home, work from off-site locations, or while travelling.
Does CurrentWare have access to employee data?
No. CurrentWare’s software does not send your user’s computer usage data to CurrentWare. They are installed and managed by your organization.
All of the data collected by CurrentWare’s software is stored on a database that is installed in your organization’s data center or cloud service provider.
For more information please refer to our Terms of Service.
Will CurrentWare work on other cloud platforms?
Yes. So long as your cloud service provider supports running a Windows virtual machine you can use CurrentWare on other cloud platforms in addition to AWS, GCP, and Azure.
