How to use Screen Time to track app activities (iOS12)

  1. Open settings
  2. Tap screen time
  3. You’ll see a snapshot of your device use for the day including how much time you spent using your iPhone
  4. Tap your device name – this takes you to your activity summary
    • See how much time you spend in your most used apps
    • See how many times you pick up your device per hour
    • See which apps are sending you the most notifications

How to limit time spent on an app (iOS12)

  1. Open settings
  2. Tap screen time
  3. Under most used, tap an app name
  4. Tap add limit
  5. Set a time limit
  6. Tap Add at the top right of the screen
  7. If you’re using an app and you’re about to reach your limit, you’ll get a notification that you have five minutes left
  8. If you reach the time limit, you can tap ignore limit to snooze the limit for 15 minutes, ignore it for the rest of the day or tap cancel to accept the limit and move on to something else

How to schedule downtime in screen time (iOS12)

  1. Open settings
  2. Tap screen time
  3. Tap downtime
  4. Tap the switch to turn it on
  5. Choose a start and end time

Note: During downtime all of your apps and notifications will be blocked but you’ll still have access to phone calls and the apps on your allowed apps list

Add apps to the downtime allowed list (iOS12)

  1. Open settings
  2. Tap screen time
  3. Tap downtime
  4. Tap always allowed – here you’ll see a list of important apps that you can still use during downtime like phone messages
  5. Tap on the green plus sign next to add an app to the allowed list
  6. Tap the red button to remove an app from the list
  7. When downtime is active the home screen dims all of your blocked apps and you’ll see an hourglass icon next to the app name
  8. You’ll still receive notifications from the apps on your always allowed list but not from other apps
  9. If you try to open an app that’s unavailable you’ll see a time limit warning
  10. You can still use the app if you like just tap ignore limit then tap remind me in 15 minutes to use this app for just a little while
