Steps to resolve “Attempt for a network connection failed”
error due to multiple network connections

During the remote client installation process you may receive an error “Attempt for a network connection failed”, with a description that says:

“Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again”.

To solve this problem, try the following steps:

Option #1 – Restart the CurrentWare Console machine and try again

By simply restarting the CurrentWare Console machine, you will break the existing connection with the remote client computer and allow the remote client install to establish the connection

Option #2 – Use NET USE command on the CurrentWare console machine to delete the existing connections

  1. Select the Start button, then type CMD.
  2. Right-click the Command Prompt option, then choose Run as administrator.
  3. From the Command Prompt type in:
    NET USE /delete \\ClientIP

(Where the ClientIP is the IP Address or the HostName of the remote computer that you wish to install cwClient.)

  4. In some extreme cases, you may want to simply use the command
    NET USE * /delete.

(This will delete all mapped drives though.)
